点评:If you're in Jinja, the Uganda Railway Museum is definitely a place to visit. The young guide who took us round the museum was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She took care to ensure we weren't overloaded with information and had plenty of opportunities to ask questions. The guide was a real credit to the Museum and to Uganda.
The museum exhibition itself brings alive the history of the 'Lunatic Express', presenting a clear overview of the challenges faced, the rationale for the build, and the very real racism which attended the railway's construction, management and usage.
The video showing in the railway carriage was excellent and brought alive, through photographs and cinema footage, the background and life of the railway.
All told, the Museum is a great way to spend an hour or so. It's even good for children - our three year old grandson had a great time climbing on the railway engine on display. Museums such as this telling a part of 'Uganda's story' are the way to go. This Museum does it extremely well.
Be advised, however, that it's cash only admission - no cards accepted.
