点评：David from Danta Tours took my husband and I on an incredible tour of Calakmul and the jungle deep in the Yucatan Peninsula.
This was an unforgettable experience that we got to experience during low season. And we were lucky with the weather. David is a fantastic guide, who has an encyclopaedic knowledge about the ancient Maya civilisation in Calakmul (as well as broadly speaking Ancient Indigenous Mexican culture). We spent much of our trip in Mexico referencing back to what David explained to us in relation to the Maya culture and making connections to current Mexican culture and life. He picked us up early in the morning from our accommodation in Bacalar and drove us 3 hours to Calakmul via Xpujil. He dropped us off in the evening as well. All in all it was an extremely pleasant experience. There were many surprises along the way we saw a variety animals native to the jungle in Calakmul, such as: turtles, turkeys, snakes, owls, wasps, crocodiles, woodpecker, egret, spider monkeys as well as howler monkeys.
