点评：Wow. Just.... wow. We probably kept saying that for at least an hour and a half after we left. If you like House on the Rock, this will blow your mind. It's actually better, because while House on the Rock is a collection of the wild and random, this is very much organized around a theme of... I'm searching for the appropriate and respectful description.... an epic and royal fairytale love, perhaps? One review described it as a visual feast - and it is- but an almost overwhelming one. I honestly haven't seen anything else quite like it this side of Vegas. It is beautiful, lavish and opulent and frankly a bit visually overwhelming, so while I do agree with all the 5 star reviews, part of me completely understands where the less flattering one is coming from.
I will say this, I don't think you will ever see anything else quite like it anywhere else in the Midwest. The limited tour opportunities are because it is still a private residence, and the owner still resides there. He and his dog (beautiful and well trained animal) were present during our tour, and his passion for his art and his late wife were evident not only throughout the house but in his conversation with guests. If you are looking for a historic mansion tour, this really isn't it. It is much more of an art exhibition on a scale that is impossible to comprehend until you experience it. Either way, we were glad we went and we did consider it well worth the price of admission.
