点评：An absolutely superb experience, and I have no hesitation in recommending Heritawi Safaris to anyone. You could not ask for better.
Julius put together an itinerary to our specifications, which included a trip to the Maasai Mara during the Great Migration and a separate trip a week later to Nairobi National Park, and the Museum and Snake Park. And he did it on a tight budget, including airport pick-up.
On his advice, we travelled down to the Mara the day before our safari and stopped at a tented camp just outside the Oloolaimutia Gate overnight. Our excellent driver Peter picked us up from Limuru and drove down the Escarpment into the Great Rift Valley and on to the Mara - five hours driving and a fascinating journey in its own right.
That evening Peter took us to a Maasai village within walking distance of the camp, where we met Maasai men, danced, jumped and learnt to make fire.
The following day the safari started early - we were in the park at sunrise. During the course of the day we saw the Big Five - all of them - and many other animals. Peter was polite, knowledgeable and unflappable. I've been on numerous safaris before, but never the Mara, and it was head and shoulders the best safari.
The following week, after returning from family functions in Mombasa and the Coast, our second driver, Sam, took us to Nairobi National Park, the Museum and the Snake Park - pickup from our hotel. Where Peter was knowledgeable and polite, Sam was passionate and a little mischievous, and got on really well with our young adults, since he was of similar age.
An example of Sam's skill - when we saw a buffalo carcass, Sam advised waiting. As vultures and other birds began to circle, he said the lions would emerge to defend their kill - and when the birds got low enough they did exactly as he predicted, and we got our shots of lions over their kill.
In the Snake Park, Sam was clearly having as much fun as our snake-obsessed zoologist nephew.
As I said, I've been on several safaris in Kenya before. Julius put together the two best safaris I've been on, he did it on a budget, and he did it to our custom programme. Expectations exceeded at every level. HeriTawi have instantly become our go-to safari operators. We will use them again on our next Kenya tour in a couple of years.
