点评:Mr John parked outside our hotel so it made perfect sense to go with him. We were picked up promptly at 8.50 and off we went. Mr John explained that he and his family were displaced by the Turkish invasion in 1974 and that for 50 years he and thousands of others have been banned from entering their homes.
We had a drive about and stopped to see from the distance the ghost town of Varosha.
We entered the Turkish check point through the UK base area. There we picked up our Turkish guide Mr Ahmed, he was also displaced following the invasion 1974.
Mr john and Mr Ahmed were both amazing guides and you could hear the sadness when they spoke about their former homes which were now empty shells.
Seeing Mr John's high school, the churches, the beach untouched apart from the select few that are allowed to use it.
It's sad that after 50 years the illegal invaders are still there, living in other peoples homes, taking over their businesses while the thousands of displaced people are barred from reclaiming their own property.
If you can go on a tour then go, Mr John and Mr Ahmed are both lovely people. We will be going back.
