点评：If you are traveling through Mpumalanga, a stop at the Sudwala Caves is an absolute must. We visited recently and were blown away by the combination of natural beauty and fascinating history.

The highlight for us was seeing the caves in person after the kids had studied them at school. It’s one thing to read about "the oldest known caves in the world" in a textbook, but standing inside them brings the curriculum to life. It was a proud parent moment watching them recognize the formations and fossils they’d learned about!

If you are worried about tight spaces, don't be. The main cavern is massive (the size of a concert hall!), so I never felt claustrophobic. The guided tour was excellent—our guide was knowledgeable, funny, and did a great job of explaining the geology and the Swazi history of the caves without it feeling like a dry lecture.
Pro-Tip: Dress for the Humidity
One thing to keep in mind is the climate inside. While it’s famously a constant 17°C, the air is very still and a bit humid and warm once you get deep inside. I highly recommend wearing light clothing and comfortable walking shoes. You’ll definitely work up a bit of a glow as you walk through the chambers!
