点评:I had read a leaflet featuring the monastery, and noted that for the month of October, it is closed each Wednesday.
Having had lunch in the village, I arrived for the afternoon opening ( either at 2pm or 2.30pm, according to where you look it up !)
€6 entrance fee for an adult. ( maximum charge)
The dogs and don'ts, regarding access, are clearly explained.
Armed with a leaflet, and a large laminated guide, both in English, I set off.
Impressed with the monk's cell - basic but adequate. The cloisters, chapel, choir and refectory are also capable of making you take stock of modern life, and its trappings.
For me, though, the gem is the rear garden. Gently overgrown in parts, it is in a spellbinding location, surrounded by mountains on all sides, seemingly.
Was reluctant to tear myself away from the view, sat on a terrace chair, at home time !
