点评:The Mayan ruins of Playacar whilst walking from the Riu Playacar into Playa Del Carmen. From the Riu Palace Mexico it was about 20 mins walk towards the town itself. You will see a sign "ruinas arqueologicas"
Located just off the road among the trees there are no fences or entry fees to see these ruins, just pathways through a small jungle clearing, and 3 distinct buildings.
The second set further down the same road nearer to the sentry gate in and out of Playacar , are also signed "ruinas arqueologicas". These are ‘xamen Ha’ which means “Water from the North” and receives this name due to its seashore location.
The Mayans who lived in this small city were engaged in fishing and agriculture, the Mayans left here in canoes over to the sanctuary of the goddess Ixchel on the island of ‘Cozumel.’
The ruins are marked on google maps if you need to get an idea of how much walking is involved. Bear in mind much of it is under tree canopies which helps on a sunny day.
You can continue in Playa del Carmen though another gate near to these ruins, you may be lucky and sight birds and iguanas as you walk around.
