点评:A Full Day in the Thai Jungle — Worth Every Step
Our adventure began with a 7:15am pickup, joining several other guests in a shared van. The drive to the sanctuary took roughly two hours along winding mountain roads — a fair warning to anyone prone to motion sickness: this one is not for you.
When we finally arrived, the elephants made every curve of that road worthwhile. We fed them bananas and waded into the streams to help bathe them — an experience that’s hard to put into words.
A delicious pad Thai lunch followed before we loaded back into the van and climbed to a mountaintop sanctuary at 8,400 feet. The roads were just as winding on the way up, and thick fog had settled in at the summit, limiting the views — but the cool, crisp air was a welcome and refreshing change of pace.
From there, we headed down to a forest hiking trail where we navigated over rocks and roots through dense jungle for a solid hour. It’s a genuine workout — anyone with troubled knees or ankles should think twice. The reward at the end was a stunning waterfall, followed by a charming trailside café serving a lovely spread of teas.
The two-hour return drive felt long after such a full day, and we pulled into our resort around 6:15pm — tired, but deeply satisfied.
Is it worth it? Absolutely — if you love elephants, hiking, and experiencing Thailand beyond the tourist trail. Just come prepared for a full day’s adventure.
