Not to be missed: a wonderful experience on a beautiful day!

点评：The BEST three hours we've ever spent on a guided tour. We were lucky to be his only guests too!
Fran took us on a trip overland, which could never have been done in a family saloon. The height of the Land Rover gave us panoramic views over the Purbeck Hills that we'd never seen before. He was able to access land owned by a few different wildlife charities where we saw only a few hardy walkers and lots of cattle grazing.
Fran's knowledge of flora and fauna was unparalleled and he gave us a running commentary on the flowers and plants around us. Stopping the car to point out wild deer, hares and birds. Funnily enough, we didn't know that there were peat bogs amongst the Purbeck Hills and how they had been formed several millions years ago and rock formation in various places. A font of information. His enthusiasm was infectious and we asked lots of questions too.
We've visited the area several times over the years but always had the same vistas of Corfe Castle however on this occasion, it was totally different. Fran told us about the history of Corfe Castle and the Bankes family and downfall.
This was rounded off with a good cup of "builder's tea and homemade cakes, generously baked by his wife Jane.
To gain all of the knowledge that Fran imparted, would mean reading several different books.
I have asked Fran to write a book about the area and when he does, I will return to have him sign it!!!
Thank you Fran and Jane for an exceptional afternoon and a great way for us to celebrate my husband David's 73rd birthay ;-)

最后，我们还品尝了弗兰妻子简亲手烘焙的美味蛋糕和一杯热腾腾的“工人茶”。
弗兰讲述的知识之丰富，恐怕要读好几本书才能完全掌握。
我已经请弗兰写一本关于这片地区的书，等他写完，我一定会回来请他签名！
