Baja Wild Encounters的点评
点评：Our experience with Baja Wild was remarkable. After two days of scuba diving in Cabo Pulmo, we thought we'd seen the best of the Sea of Cortez, but the trip with skipper Mario and Alba, our guide, was remarkable. Over almost seven hours, we observed a humpback mama and calf from our boat, along with other remarkable creatures while snorkelling: common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, turtles, sea lions and rays. It's a real adventure that saw us racing from one part of the sea to the another and then quickly slipping into the water.
But it's not just about the wildlife we saw — it's about the compassion and insights Alba and Mario bring to their work. Unlike some other tour boats we saw, our captain didn't crowd any creature — instead, they were savvy and predictive, giving marine life a wide berth and then essentially getting ahead of them, so that they could swim past us and engage or not — essentially on the animals' terms. As a result, we had an utterly breathtaking experience with the bottlenose pod in particular, which seemed as excited to see us as we were to see them.
Alba is spectacularly knowledgeable about marine life and truly passionate about her work. I know so much more as a result of her accessible and engaging explanations of the creatures we saw.
In between encounters, we appreciated the water, pineapple and granola bars served throughout the morning. Lunch, which we enjoyed while waiting for a crowd of snorkelers to leave the sea lion habitat, was delicious — mango-lentil ceviche served with tostadas.
Alba is a skilled underwater photographer and drone operator — she worked hard to ensure that we had photos of ourselves with all the marine life we saw, and all of the photos and video she captured are provided to customers via Google Drive without any additional charges.
We hope to be back in BCS in the spring — and, if we are, we'll definitely return to Baja Wild Encounters.
