点评:The historic (c.1905) Henderson County Heritage Museum is an incredible gem for Hendersonville as well as the state of North Carolina. It is located on the southern end of Hendersonville's lively Main Street downtown district while only a block away from the visitor's center and the crazy part is it is free.
The museum highlights local history from its train heritage to apple farming, its military history and the Cherokee Indians to name just a few subjects. The exhibits are wonderful and in-depth following Hendersonville's path thru every generation especially appreciating the Colonial/Revolutionary War period exhibits. Also impressive are the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution located outside in front of the entrance, all enclosed in cases for all to see. Definitely worth an hour or two. The staffer we met was very knowledgeable, answering all of our many questions and he added a few stories with some local insight. They even have a little gift shop.
