I have been booking flights through MMT for many years and have been happy with the services. However, this latest incident has left a sour taste, and I feel cheated by MMT.
I booked a flight from Delhi to Bagdogra and paid an extra flexible fare surcharge, which would enable me to change the flight date without extra cost, if needed.
However, when I tried to change my flight date, within the stipulated time, MMT did not let me do it, stating, "flight date cannot be modified because the airlines (AI) had rescheduled the flight." AI had delayed the scheduled time of departure by a mere 30 minutes. The flight number hadn't changed. How can this be a legitimate point to deny a change of flight date after having paid extra that was supposed to enable me to do just that?
There was no way to contact customer service to redress my problem. I cannot find a place to register a complaint in the MMT website. I had no option but to cancel the flight and purchase a fresh ticket and pay full fare for it.
MMT later refunded only Rs 2069 out of Rs 9202. I was short-changed to the tune of Rs 7133.
I've since tried multiple ways to redress this problem with MMT with no success.
Going forward, I will book flights directly with the airline/s. This will eliminate the middleman like MMT.
Is there any use in going to the consumer forum tribunal? Any suggestion as to how I can convince MMT to refund the balance amount is welcome.
