点评：I was the first superintendent of this park back in the early 1970s. I was only there for a few months before returning to State Park Headquarters in Atlanta. At that point, I was promoted to the position as the first chief naturalist of Georgia State Parks, covering the entire state. Wonderful memories of the place and the visitors who came to see that magnificent 320-foot-long covered bridge, and the remains of an old grist mill on the west bank of the South Fork Broad River. The bridge was constructed in 1885 and the mill in Cir. 1798. The only facilities I had when I was there was the superintendent's residence with a connecting office and a shed with a tractor in it. Wonderful experience and its is hard for me to believe the facilities and activities in that park today. Allen R. Coggins, now residing in Blount County, Tennessee in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountain, my original home.
