点评：Bertjan was our guide on a private tour at the Kruger National Park and largely thanks to him it became an unforgettable experience for our family! He is erudite, thoughtful, and tireless. From 5.30 am when we would be at the gate waiting for it to open till 6 pm when we had to be back at the camp we would explore different parts of Kruger and then Bertjan would make braai for us in the evening.
I’ve been to a few safaris snd what makes Bertjan stand out is his vast knowledge, passion for the nature, and an ability not just to spot an animal and give some basic facts about it but to tell a story about its behaviour, role in the habitat and its place in the local folklore. I am sure we would have missed half of the animals if we were on our own, and even if did see them we wouldn’t have noticed the nuances of their traits and features. A lion pride strolling by our car, an elephant tusker having a mud bath, a beach full of vultures, courting giraffes - so many moments straight out of the National Geographic! I am particularly grateful to him for bringing to our attention species we would not normally pay attention to - dung beetles were a revelation!
I would highly recommend Bertrand as a guide at Kruger - or, indeed, other national parks and natural reserves. He is friendly, engaging and keen to make sure his guests are comfortable and enjoy their visit.
