An oasis of calm with Michelin starred dining.
Xara Palace的点评
点评：Xara Palace is an oasis of calm amid the hustle and hubbub of day-tripping tourists. It is tucked in within the city walls of Mdina, and yet walking distance of the co-cathedral and Museums.
The building is unique. Once a 17th century palazzo. It is filled with original antiques, and complemented by graceful giant green plants. Its corridors are lined with paintings by local artists.
Our room was spacious, luxurious with a marble floored bathroom. It offers panoramic views across the island stretching as far as the sea.
Hospitality and service was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble for the very helpful Director of Hospitality, Denis Young. For example, on our arrival Denis drove me to a local hearing aid centre, as I had forgotten my cleaning kit. Or when I developed a troublesome cough, he arranged for suitable medicine to be collected. On the final evening of a fabulous four day stay, he quickly resolved a stressful situation with my credit card. Many thanks Denis.
Xara Palace has well deserved reputation for dining excellence. The highlight was the eight course tasting menu at the Michelin starred De Mondian Restaurant. Make sure to book in advance. Each course was beautifully presented in tiny exquisite bundles. One wonderful culinary surprise after another, served with a choice of champagnes. The whole experience was amazing.
Next door the he Trattoria 1570, part of the Hotel, offers less formal dining. Indoors or outside. Their traditional Maltese fish soup was delicious.
Breakfast is also served in the elegant and spacious De Mondian Restaurant. The choice is extensive. Service is attentive and personal. The views again are panoramic with the option of eating inside or outside on a veranda. Bring a camera.
Altogether our 4 day stay was simply unforgettable. The Xara Palace offers 5* dining, service and hospitality in a stunning setting.
