Beeleigh Falls的点评
点评：Beeleigh Falls must be one of the most difficult attractions to find! This was our third attempt after twice before being sent by Satnav to an inaccessible location on the wrong side of the river! We only got there after finding a description on the internet written long ago by a past visitor. The falls are located at the junction of the River Blackwater and the Chelmer Navigation and adjacent to Beeleigh Lock. Access is via a single track road opposite Langford and Ulting Village Hall, Maldon Road, down the east side of the Museum of Power. Don’t be put off by the various signs about private accesses off the road and drive as far as the gate of the Maldon Golf Club. The falls and lock are a short walk to the right from parking that is usually available when not busy.
We visited during a drought thus the falls were not particularly spectacular and are actually a concrete man-made sluice between the two bodies of water rather than a natural feature. However, it is probably more worth seeing when the river is in full spate. The rather overgrown lock is also appealing.
Our main pleasure was in finding the location at last rather than the what we saw there when we did! Has nobody ever thought of putting signage directing visitors to the falls? Seems to be a “no brainer” to us!
