点评：Five stars do not do justice as Nobatia Tours & Zeinab require a rating system and a category of their own to describe the exceptional experience of touring the famous sites of Egypt with Zeinab as your guide.
I will break down my experience with Nobatia Tours in three sections:
1. Pre-trip planning and communication
2. Trip logistics
3. Experience of visiting the sites with a university trained Egyptologist.
1. Pre-trip Planning and Communication
I first contacted Zeinab in June 2025 for my trip that I wanted to take during the cooler season. From the very start of our communication, Zeinab was extremely professional, responsive and kind in answering all my questions. Note that my initial idea of visiting Egypt was basically to see the Pyramids and not much beyond that. It was only when Zeinab proposed various itineraries, did I understand that there was so much more to see and explore besides just the Pyramids.
After a few revisions, we settled on a 10 day action packed itinerary for Jan 2026 including a Nile cruise on Dahabiya. My tour included visiting Cairo, Luxor, Aswan & Abu Simbel.
2. Trip Logistics
Although boring, the logistical details are necessary and crucial for the tour of this magnitude.
Zeinab provided a well formatted detailed itinerary that included all details starting from Cairo airport arrival, hotel transfers and daily pick up & drop off schedules. I found this very handy as every morning I could look at the itinerary and know exactly what the plan for the day was.
From the time I landed in Cairo till the day I left, Zeinab’s team took great care of me. A member of her team was waiting at the airport before the Immigration & Customs check to help me with the Visa on Arrival process which was a breeze. Had it not been for his help, I am not sure how long it would have taken me to sort it out on my own. After going through Immigration and Customs, he handed me off to one of the drivers for my hotel transfer. For most of my time in Cairo, I had the same driver. The car itself was an air-conditioned sedan.
I had similar positive experiences in Luxor and Aswan also where a driver from her team was waiting to pick me up from the airport or the port.
For the Nile cruise, based on Zeinab’s recommendation, I opted for the Dahabiya and it was an excellent choice. The cruise itself was one of the highlights of my trip. I booked a suite with a personal deck. Those sunrises and sunsets on the Nile were other worldly to say the least. With only 4-5 small families on the Dahabiya there was plenty of room for everyone. Our dining hall was elegant with plush sofas. The breakfast, lunch, dinner and non-alcoholic drinks were all included in the cost. The staff was extremely polite, courteous and professional at all times. I wish I had more than 3 nights on the boat!
3. Experience of visiting the sites with an Egyptologist
This brings me to the most exciting part of the trip -visiting Saqqara, The Pyramids, The GEM, The Old Cairo Museum, The Civilization Museum, Karnak Temples, The Valley of the Kings, The Edfu Temple, The Kom Ombo Temple, Abu Simbel and The Philae Temple with an Egyptologist. Let me start off by saying that my experience far exceeded my expectations. Zeinab is not only a trained Egyptologist, she has the unique ability to explain the long and complicated history of Egypt spanning at least 5,000 years in an interesting and engaging way that a layman such as myself could understand.
Starting from our very first tour stop in Saqqara at the Step Pyramid and the days that followed touring The Great Pyramids, The GEM, The Cairo & the Civilization museums, The Karnak Temples, Edfu Temple, The Valley of the Kings, Abu Simbel and finishing our tour of historical sites at the Philae Temple, Zeinab weaved a coherent story and timeline of Egyptian dynasties, Pharaohs and Gods that came full circle when we were at the Philae Temple. She is proud and passionate to share her knowledge of the great Egyptian Civilization. I never found her content or style to be superficial. I can say that with absolute certainty because during the 10 day period, I came across numerous other tour guides giving their standard spiel to their groups which often sounded hollow and lacking depth. On the other hand, having Zeinab as my tour guide for the entire tour, she helped connect the dots between something we saw at Saqqara or Edfu and how it connected to something we saw at a different site. Just to give one example, the story of Osiris, Isis and Horus that Zeinab explained to me in the early days of our tour and how it came full circle when we were at the Philae temple.
Another example that speaks to Zeinab’s expertise as a guide -there was a European couple on our Dahabiya who were offered a different tour guide at each site we stopped at as part of their tour package they had purchased from a different operator. After engaging and having conversations with Zeinab during our time on the Nile cruise for 3 days, they said that they felt short changed and that they missed out on the valuable information that they never got from their various tour guides! Zeinab was always gracious in answering their questions about Pharaohs and Dynasties during our down time on the deck as we cruised the Nile.
When I visited various Temples, tombs at Saqqara and in the Valley of the Kings, as the tour guides are not allowed to go in with the tourists, she went to great lengths in showing me the pictures of what exactly to look for once inside the tomb. I found this extremely helpful because without such guidance it is impossible to make sense of what to look for and focus as you walk through the tombs surrounded by an infinite series of carvings, illustrations and Hieroglyphic texts everywhere.
It is not just about the Dynasties and Pharaohs, if you are interested, Zeinab can also help you read and understand the Hieroglyphs! By the end of your trip, I was not only able to have a better grasp on the most famous Egyptian dynasties, Gods and Pharaohs but also able to read some writings on the walls of Temples and Tombs and some cartouches with the Pharaohs’ names in Hieroglyphs!
I highly recommend Nobatia Tours and Zeinab as the tour guide for anyone seriously interested in exploring ancient Egypt as it truly deserves. And what do you know, you may come back home as a mini-Egyptologist in the making yourself!
