Brilliant experience with Radu in the mountains and bear watching

点评：As a family we took part in two excursions following a chance meeting with Radu in a local outdoor shop in Brasov (Annapurna). Putting it simply, it was the best thing that could've happened.
Trip 1: a trip to seeing bears feeding in the wild at a rangers hut. Something that we didn't think we would get to experience. His price was absolutely fantastic and he was very knowledgeable about the area and about the bears. After chatting on the trip and confessing our love for the mountains Radu went out of his way to drive to see the Piatra Craiului mountain range and we spoke at length about them. He then dropped us off at our hotel with a smile.
Trip 2: a trip to a cabin in the Piatra Craiului mountains. This walk took through 1 canyon to a secret canyon where Radu knew but others didn't. From there we went up to a cabin at 1500m where Radu sat with us a gave us some Romanian traditional food and drink (yet another act of going above and beyond).
Overall the trips were fantastic but more importantly, Radu was AMAZING!! He is such a friendly, easy going and knowledgeable person. At all times we felt safe and he was a brilliant mountain guide. On top of this he was very encouraging to our 10 year old daughter (who thought he was ace!) Radu knew what to say and when to say it. Radu pointed out interesting nature and demonstrated bushcraft as well as being a confident and supportive guide through varied terrain. He also told us interesting facts about the history of Romania as well as pointing out architecture on the journeys. We chatted non-stop and by the end of both trips we agreed to stay in touch and invited him to visit us in the mountains of North Wales....a gesture we truly mean as he was really that lovely.
