点评:I stumbled across this museum on the Internet whilst searching for something else. It is situated in the old GWR goods shed that was part of Tettenhall station, which closed down many decades ago. I last visited the railway (now a nature walk) about 45 years ago, when the station was derelict.
I am delighted to see the station has been renovated into a tea room (reviewed separately) and the goods building is now this excellent museum.
It is currently open on three days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday - but according to one of the volunteers, Friday is more of a work day and the exhibits are not wheeled out of the building, so access is limited - although it was quiet, we only saw a few other people whilst we were there, plus a couple of very enthusiastic volunteers.
Wolverhampton was home to many industries - making bicycles, motorbikes, cars, aircraft and much more which are all very well represented here.
There is much to appeal to youngsters, many cockpits they can sit in, hats they can wear, things they can ride on - but there is plenty to interest anyone interested in Wolverhampton's industrial history. There are a lot of excellent photo opportunities, too.
There is a book shop selling both second hand and new books that are relevant to the museum. Entrance is free, but there is a donation box, which I had no hesitation contributing to.
It is the sort of place that could justify several visits as there is so much to see, you are bound to miss a lot in one visit.
