Port of Harlingen的点评
点评：I followed precisely the route shown on the Information Panels placed around the town. It was an insightful experience, although I didn't read all the text thoroughly. The historical part of Harlingen is stunning, with decent atmosphere and many information boards, eg about the famous Tall Ships Races.
The port itself is not that big, but you can easily reach almost any ship there. Like no protected areas at all.
The amazingly long piers gives some kind of a meditative mood, although there are many boats nearby. I wasn't particularly excited about that whale monument, it's not that big and photogenic as the internet claims.
One of the cutest things was a gem called DOK5 inside a former warehouse. It is a kind of a cultural centre, uniquely charming, peculiarly designed using, for instance, ship containers, with exhibitions of sculptures and paintings, many purchasable. there are also cafes and souvenir shops, but by any means typical. I had a strange feeling that DOK5 looks similar to Freetown Christiania in Copenhagen.
Overall, Harlingen is a Dutch gem, not known as much, but unforgettable and cute - for its port, old town, piers and DOK5.
