点评:This is one of those lovely little local museums that you can just stumble across on a visit and they turn out to be an absolute gem!
We visited Fleetwood on a very windy day and wondered away from the front to get break from it! We found this very interesting place.
The museum is in lovely row of houses and you gently whind your way around all the floors ,covering local history from the very beginnings of the town and its unusual layout ,to past local industry like fishing and cargo handling to salt mining. There is alot to read ,interesting photos and some excellent artifacts and hands on exhibits - like being in the wheel house on a trawler.
While we visited there was a fab exhibition about the menthol sweet Fishermans Friends which are made locally- showing the crazy selection of flavours sold around the world!
The crowning glory of the museum which was completely unexpected, was to be taken out the back by a volunteer to be shown the Harriet- a Fleetwood sailing trawler now housed in a large shed-she has been through several incarnations and is in a bit if a state but still incredibly interesting and massive and impressive when you are stood next to her.
The Volunteer Roy was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic as were all the staff. They deserve to be well supported and keep to up the good work.
There is also a lovely cosy little cafe with cakes and warm drinks.
A must see when visiting Fleetwood!! Well worth the tram trip from Blackpool,5 mins walk from the tram stop.
