点评：We really like to support local businesses but our experience here today when visiting with a friend, both of us for the first time, was disappointing.
We had the chicken with truffle mayo sandwich and the partridge salad. The chicken was dark meat and would have been much enhanced with at least a little side salad or pea shoots. (Especially at £12!). The sourdough was nice. The partridge again had no garnish and was minimum amount of meat. Some of it too hard to eat. We had cake after but again these were disappointing. The lemon drizzle had thick icing, not drizzle and the rhubarb was a thin slice for £4.50. But the worst part was the staff literally running constantly back n forth to serve and then arguing through the wall of the kitchen for all the customers to hear! This created a stressful atmosphere instead of the calm one expected on a sunny afternoon.
The gardens need attention - all the box hedging and topiary was overgrown. The water lilies were lovely. I’m sure on a day when staff are more chilled and the gardens have been attended to it could be a pleasant stop but don’t go out of your way. Shame this wasn’t our experience.
