点评:Such a beautiful, evocative, thought-provoking - and yes even spooky place! Great for photography buffs - there are so many amazing little details. I visited with my husband and a friend; my husband's father was a patient at "the San" somewhere around 1929, at the age of 10, and it meant a lot to my husband to see this place that had been so important in his father's life. Seeing the prison areas is cool but also quite jarring - there were certainly many people whose imprisonment there did not serve them or society well, and you just know there was a lot of trauma that brought them to their time there, and trauma during their time there.
Definitely recommend visiting; you might want to plan a few 3 hour visits because there's a lot to see and it can be tiring! Be sure to bring a flashlight and be prepared to take lots of pics. PS - the staff are absolutely great - helpful and kind.
