点评:Some places make you feel like a tourist, others don't.
Amaro Farm is a scene right out of a movie, complete with a red tractor, an old barn that looks like it could have housed the biplane emblazoned on its side, the sheep and their babies, and a big fluffy sheepdog to top it all off - all set against an absolutely stunning backdrop of green fields and rolling hills. You have to take a moment to remind yourself that it's actually real life.
Lance and his family could not have been more warm and hospitable. They not only told us everything there was to know about the sheep, the breeding practices and the amount of work that goes into what they do - they also took the time to get to know us, ask us about our own lives, treat us as they would a local, and even make sure to point us in the right direction after we left. We didn't even find out it was Lance's birthday until the very end, after about 30-40 minutes of conversation. They're the type of folks you'd want as neighbors, if you were lucky enough to live on San Juan Island.
For all the homework we did going into our honeymoon, we never included Amaro Farms on our list, and so we were lucky that we happened here by chance. It turned out to be the highlight of our stay on SJI.
