点评:This is the 2nd biggest Roman Ampitheatre and is well worth a visit as you can walk around without any crowds (4 other people there) and you can visit the underground area too. The upper levels are not very well preserved as it was used as a quarry.
Unlike others, I found it easy to get to as I caught the 8.30am EAV train from Naples Central to Anfiteatro and walked a few minutes to the Ampitheatre. Unfortunately both the Mitreo and museum in town were closed (latter for renovations). I then caught a train from Santa Maria Capua Vetere about midday to Caserta to visit the Royal Palace. Doing it this way worked with the trains as there are not many to Anfiteatro (7.50am, 8.30am and then about 11.30am) nor from there to Caserta, but plenty back from Caserta as Trenitalia also runs to there.
