Excellent! a little gem of a craft brewery
John O'Groats Brewery的点评
点评：After our stroll along the coast to Duncansby Head and back, the need for a good pint and a bite to eat was in order.
Not a difficult decision in John O'Groats, the John O'Groats Brewery was just across from our hotel.
The beer was excellent a couple of pints of their Golden Groat, along with a great selection of snacks. Although there is a wider range of beers available if you want to spend your time tasting. The last time I had beers like this was many years ago as a student and member of CAMRA in Oxford.
Really great atmosphere with a cosy real fire. The whole set up is really great from the old style bar to the excellent gift shop and visitors centre.
They have really done a great job of revitalising the iconic "Last House" in the heart of the town. Dating back to before 1700, the “Last House” is the oldest surviving building in John O’Groats and is known to have housed descendants of Jan de Groot, the Dutch ferryman, who the village of John O’Groats is named after.
When the cottage was first constructed it had a thatched roof. However In 1913, this was removed and replaced with Caithness slates, as you see today. It's the type of building known in the Highlands as a “but-an-ben”. Referring to a single story design for a two roomed cottage.
The John O’Groats Brewery is an artisan brewery. They are producing some of the finest craft ales, using only the beautiful unspoiled waters from the highlands of Scotland. All the beers are produced with attention to detail and created in small batches within the village of John o Groats on the North coast of Britain.
If you are visiting or staying in John O'Groats this one of the places not to miss. We only had one evening, but it was probably the best of our tour through Scotland.
