A MUST-DO! Angela is the BEST!
Il Molino di Grace Winery的点评
点评：**One of the most special experiences of our honeymoon!!**
My husband and I visited Il Molino di Grace during our honeymoon after our hotel in Panzano in Chianti recommended the vineyard, and we are SO glad we did. **Angela was our guide, and we cannot say enough positive things about her.** We booked the vineyard tour and wine tasting and added the picnic because we wanted to do something extra special for our honeymoon. It ended up being one of our favorite experiences in Tuscany!
Because of how the scheduling worked out that day, our experience ended up essentially feeling like a private tour, and from the moment we arrived, Angela welcomed us like we were family. She was SO bubbly, sweet, warm, and personable, and genuinely made the entire experience what it was. We spent a little over two hours there and never felt rushed.
We had done a vineyard/wine tour before, but this was the first time we felt like we actually learned how wine goes from the vineyard to the bottle. Angela first walked us through the beautiful grounds and vineyards and explained everything from the history of Il Molino di Grace and its owner to how and when the grapes are harvested. She explained how the seasons and weather affect the grapes—including how an especially hot, dry summer can change the growing conditions and ultimately impact the wine. It gave us such a different appreciation for how much goes into every bottle.
From there, we went inside the winemaking facility, where she walked us through the entire process. We learned about fermentation and aging, the differences between stainless steel tanks and oak barrels, the different qualities and types of oak, and how they source oak from France. We also learned SO much about what makes Chianti Classico unique and the differences between Chianti Classico, Riserva, and Gran Selezione. Angela was incredibly knowledgeable but explained everything in such an approachable way. We asked a million questions and she seemed genuinely excited to answer every single one!
We even had the opportunity to meet members of the family behind the vineyard, which made the whole experience feel that much more personal and special.
Then came the tasting! Angela would bring out each wine, explain what we were about to taste and give us some guidance on what to notice, and then leave us alone for a little while to actually sip, talk, and enjoy it together. It was the perfect balance. She helped us start to understand things we had heard people say about wine forever—dryness, body, different flavor notes, etc.—in a way that finally made sense!
We tried a rosé, several of their Chianti wines, a Super Tuscan, and more, and it was so much fun tasting the differences after everything we had just learned. We loved the wine so much that we ended up ordering a mixed case of six bottles to be shipped home to the U.S.!
And then there was the picnic!! Since it was our honeymoon, we had specifically added this on hoping for something romantic and special, and it absolutely was. We were able to choose a bottle of wine to enjoy with our picnic and chose a white that had become one of our favorites.
The food was delicious and such high quality, with beautiful cheeses, meats, bread, and other accompaniments that paired perfectly with the wine. They were also INCREDIBLY accommodating of my husband's dietary restrictions. He has serious sesame and tree nut allergies, and they took them seriously and were able to reassure us that the bread was made on the premises so they knew exactly what was in it and that it was safe for him. He is also vegetarian, so they thoughtfully gave him extra cheese in place of the meats. We really appreciated the care they took to make sure he could fully enjoy the picnic rather than feeling like he was missing out.
The vineyard and wine are obviously incredible, but **Angela truly made this experience unforgettable.** She had such a wonderful energy and was so genuine, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and kind. We learned an unbelievable amount while still feeling like we were simply spending a beautiful afternoon drinking wine in Tuscany.
If you are staying anywhere near Panzano or visiting the Chianti region, we cannot recommend Il Molino di Grace enough—and absolutely add the picnic!! It was romantic, educational, delicious, personal, and such a special honeymoon memory. We left with a much deeper appreciation for Chianti wine (plus six bottles heading home to remind us of it!). We would go back in a heartbeat.
