Alofaaga Blowholes的点评
点评：It is a 45min drive on a good road from the ferry terminal. No faster than 50km/hr though. Lots of dogs, chooks and sometimes people on the road.
Worth stopping at the waterfalls about half way there. Allow at least 30 mins at the falls for a swim.
The blowholes are accessed by driving a short distance maybe 2kms in total off the main south road. A person will meet you as you drive past a small hut to take 10 tala per person. Then about 400m drive on a good track to a decent parking area right adjacent the blowholes.
We were there 2 hrs before high tide with some good waves coming in with the onshore wind. The blowhole was making an incredible growling sound and whoosh as it shot spray and seawater at least 30m into the air.
There is the remains of a red line painted on the rocks. I advise not to go past that. A huge wave came in unexpectedly and would have been a big safety issue if we were any closer to the blowhole.
Even the lava flows there are interesting so worth walking along the platform and checking it out.
The steps to the small viewing platform were damaged but it is easy access even for the elderly or mobility challenged. The blowholes could be viewed ok from the car if necessary.
