点评:This market is very repetitive and doesn’t look very clean, it’s basically the same thing stall after stall..it’s only fruit and vegetables and we walked around for a couple of minutes then left, more of a concern is the SCAMS going on in the Main Street, you will be approached by a “friendly” man saying come to their shop and have a look it’s all made locally and the money supports the village, bagging out other sellers in the street and they are very friendly and seem genuine…trust me they AREN’T….they then do a kava ceremony welcoming you to Fiji and warning you of scammers (the nerve of them!) then they insist on you buying things and before you know it they have carved your name on items and become forceful..they try to get you to buy things that are overpriced and you feel obligated to, it was extremely uncomfortable and we just wanted to get out of there, we then left after paying $94 for a wooden statue and when walking along went into Jacks up the road and saw exactly the same item for a third of the price…the Jacks staff did say this is a regular occurrence and we should insist on a refund, we went back twice and then when we told them we would be contacting the police they agreed to give our money back…this is terrible that tourists are being preyed on and ripped off in broad daylight…it didn’t leave a very good first impression, this happened on our first day in Fiji after our luggage being lost so it really was a crappy start to our holiday…just AVOID any men who come up and are extra friendly and insist you have a look in their “local store” it’s 10000% a scam, if they mention a kava ceremony…run…run as fast as you can to get out of there!!!
I wish we had known about this before getting to Fiji and wasting our time and money…everything in Fiji is expensive enough without being ripped off!!
