点评:This District with the historic Barns and rustic Homesteads is showcased as a “Must Stop” area while touring the Grand Tetons National Park, and therefore our tour guide took us there.
We have seen those Thomas Alma and John Moulton Barns in several iconic photos and on Postcards, and so it was natural that we would want our own photos in front of them with the Tetons in the background. Unfortunately, the time that we stopped here in the morning created a lot of shadows on the barn because of the position of the Sun. We could only get average-looking pictures. One good thing was that were very people there so early. (We had also passed by this area during our evening Safari, and the green roof looked a lot better)
Oh well… at least we can say we have been there and learned the history. Cannot imagine what it would have been like to live in this extreme wilderness with no running water or electricity.
The area has been added to the National Registry of Historical Places in 1997.
Worth a visit. Try to go at Sunrise or Sunset in the evening if possible.
