House lovely, shame about the car park queue

点评：Visited here today to go round the house as it was their opening weekend for their Christmas walk around. First time we have been here and must say the house was absolutely beautiful. Loved the lady’s in character costume that welcomed you and set the scene with a story of what you were about to experience. Followed by a lovely booklet that you could take away with you that also told the story of being in the house on Christmas eve and a lantern to get you safely through the first dark corridor which was brilliant as it made you feel like you were really back in olden times. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It didn’t take long to walk round as only the bottom floor is open but it was beautifully done and very well priced. I would love to go back in the summer to see the upper floor too.
The only negative was the hour we were stuck in a long queue which extended out onto the main road, just to get into the car park. There was a Christmas fair on this weekend and that may have added to the traffic but an hour to get into the car park is ridiculous. They could do with a separate entrance for people with house tickets as it appeared that the majority of the traffic was people only wanting to visit the Christmas fair. It only took 40 minutes to go round the house and that was at a leisurely pace taking lots of photos so it was a real shame that the majority of our visit was time spent queuing to get in.
