点评：We first met Ian at lunchtime on 12th November when his passion, knowledge of and care for the Rowi was immediately apparent. He meticulously set out everything. We needed to do and know for our adventure in the evening.
We then met Ian before sunset and set out into the Okarito Forest destined for the territory of Moss and Rico. Shortly after darkness fell we heard distant calls of a male and female Kiwi but from a different territory. Shortly before 10pm we heard the news that half of our group had seen Moss cross the creek - had we missed our chance? After 30 minutes standing and listening in silence the footsteps of a Kiwi could clearly be heard in the bush. Shortly afterwards, Moss appeared in full view as he walked along the track - mission accomplished! However, the magic was not at an end as we soon heard Rico calling loudly to her partner near by! Ian quickly pick her up in his red torch light at which point Moss re-appeared and with bill pointing to the sky serenaded Rico - truly wonderful!!
I cannot thank Ian enough for providing us with one of the most magical experience in my 50+ years of birding.
