点评:I have been to Chase 3 times. The first time on a group outing and the other two times were events. I am currently organizing a group tour for my birding group. I can’t say enough good things about them. I will start by saying, I do not work or volunteer there and any information in this post is from talking with the staff and volunteers. Unless you are attending an organized activity like painting or Yoga with the Lemurs, visits are by appointment only.
The difference between Chase and other animal sanctuaries is that many of these animals were brought here via the illegal exotic animal trade so they cannot be healed and re-released. The enclosures have been built with the animal’s safety and happiness as their priority. On my last visit this February I asked about what was required for a record setting long cold snap. I can’t imagine the cost and energy it took to rent heaters and move animals into building for their protection. A new baby sloth was in an incubator being fed every 4 hours since Mom was unable to care for it. The Lemurs are so much fun and the birds are beautiful, just to name some of the animals.
If you have a chance to go, it is well worth it.
