Fort De Schoenenbourg的点评
点评：One of the best visits I have ever made. All funded and run by volunteers. Our guide talked about his mother as an eight year old having one hour to evacuate their nearby farm at the outbreak of the war.
If out of season I recommend contacting the tourist office email on the fort contacts page. They were really helpful and got us on to a tour which didn't seem possible at first (nor self-guided out of season). We had to join a guided tour in French (although he did answer questions in English, put by an Argentinian!) which is quite fast linguistically but understandable and there are multilingual signboards at all the locations.
Public transport non existent. We hired a car from Karlsruhe (which has astonishngly cheap flights to UK).
It wasn't too cold although perhaps more felt in summer. The guide said it was an enviable posting for soldiers because of the warmth, showers, food etc.
