Toulouse & Carcassonne with Elyse
Toulouse Guided Walks的点评
点评：Excellent. We hired Elyse for a private tour (3 hrs) to enlighten and guide us during our weeklong stay in Toulouse. She imparted her extensive knowledge of Toulouse’s long history from the Romans to the Haussman inspired renovations. Along the way we heard the history and visited the Jacobins Convent and the Basilica Saint-Sernin. She provided information on architecture, changing kingdoms and current events. If you want to learn about Toulouse from a passionate, educated guide, hire Elyse.
We also took Elyse along on an all day trip to Carcassonne. On the train she enlightened us on the history of this amazing medieval fortress and the surrounding countryside. Outside and inside this UNESCO site, she gave us the history of the walled fortified city from the Romans, Crusades, Cathars and even World War II. She took care of taxi calls and restaurant recommendations once we arrived. Having a Occitanie resident who knows the area history made for a wonderful day.
We did the tours first week in April. It was a bit windy and chilly especially in Carcassonne but did not keep us from enjoying our holiday. Except for some school groups on the train, there were no crowds at any sites in Toulouse or Carcassonne.
