点评:We visited last Friday on our way home from the Peak District. We had visited the gardens about 16 years ago when we had National Trust Membership. We used our gardeners work 2 for 1 card so cost was £6.50. Well signposted and we arrived to a large well laid out car park. The staff at the reception point were friendly and gave us a leaflet and explained about what to see at the moment. We couldn’t believe how well kept and colourful the gardens are at the moment. We had a look around the conservatory with plants in tubs and displayed in the ground. After about 2 hours we returned to our car as we had brought a picnic with us. We then walked into the peaceful meadows. The cafe looked nice but was very busy. No shop except a book staff selling secondhand books. I purchased one about walking routes in the Peak District which will be very useful when we visit again in the near future. Plenty of clean toilets around the site. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and recommend it for all ages. Dogs welcome on leads. The castle which is a folly is worth a look but if you want to go to the top it’s 83 steps.
