Pleasant walk through the gardens

点评：Called on a sunny April morning.
Decent parking. Not tarmaced or marked out but plenty of room.
Friendly staff at the NT reception who were happy to explain it all.
Uphill walk to the cafe/bookshop area and up to the old castle. There is a buggy service that runs for those who don't walk.
Fantastic play area for the kids.
The garden had some beautiful rhododendron, azaleas and pieris. We were given a good map of the area. Unfortunately many of the paths were closed for various reasons when we got to them.
Lovely conservatory.
The main house is not open to the public but there is a 'castle' further up the path . I believe it was built in the 19c so not genuine but okay.
There are lots of paths going across the fields which looked like they'd be nice walks. Lots of signs up saying dogs must be on fixed short leads - unfortunately some of the dog owners thought it didn't apply to them.🤷♀️
And then we come to the cafe.😕 The staff were pleasant. The toilets could have done with a clean and tidy. Cakes were limited and I stupidly chose the last piece of coffee and walnut. I asked for some pouring cream to go with it (as it looked past it's best and I have severe dysphagia ). The didn't have any but offered some squirty cream which I thought I'd better have. This came in a tiny tub and had dissolved into a dessert spoonful of liquid by the time we'd waited for the coffee to be served.and we were charged £1.50 for it. The cake was dry as old sticks and I'd to leave most of it. The coffee was warm but not hot. Two coffees and a dry cake came to nearly £14.
We might visit the site again but we will take a flask next time!

然后我们去了咖啡馆。😕 服务员态度不错。洗手间应该打扫干净。蛋糕种类有限，我傻乎乎地选了最后一块咖啡核桃蛋糕。因为蛋糕看起来不太新鲜，而且我有严重的吞咽困难，所以我要了点鲜奶油。他们没有鲜奶油，但给了我一些挤压式奶油，我想还是用吧。结果这奶油装在一个小盒子里，等我们等咖啡的时候，它已经化成一小勺液体了，而且还收了我们1.5英镑。蛋糕干得像老柴一样，我几乎没吃。咖啡是温的，但不够热。两杯咖啡加一块干巴巴的蛋糕，一共花了将近14英镑。
我们可能会再次参观这个地方，但下次我们会带上保温瓶！
