Truly an experience to see this iconic Gothic cathedral!!
法国鲁昂大教堂的点评
点评：We visited the Cathedral twice during our daytrip to Rouen. First in the late morning just before noon to see it in shadow. Then again late in the afternoon to see the facade in full sunlight. As a fan of Claude Monet, I wanted to see the building as he might have seen it, having painted more than 30 versions of it. I took my time to view the facade in it full Gothic glory! The central structure sided by towers. The detailed sculpture around the doors. The Rose Window. The carved moldings. The gargoyles. It's amazing to see all of the details that make up the facade. In fact, we walked all the way around it to see it from as many vantage points as possible. Inside the cathedral is somewhat dark and plain. The long aisle from the back to the altar with the tall narrow stained glass beyond. The arches and vaults of the ceiling. The design is remarkable! The library staircase is quite interesting. There are two tombs: the Viking leader Rollo and Richard the Lionheart (only his heart is here). It is free to enter the Cathedral. During our midweek visitor in early May, it was not crowded at all.
