点评：We visited Petra and her family on the 2nd of May 2026 - myself and two friends traveling to Finland from South Africa. We wanted to see reindeer up close but at this time of year it turned out to be a challenge as very few places appeared to be open after the winter season had ended.
To our great fortune we came across this place when searching the web and Petra was super friendly and willing to host us for a visit. At this time in early May the reindeer were not inside a pen but running free inside a larger fenced area so we were not guaranteed to get close. We first went to look for the males with some reindeer snacks that Petra had brought to draw them closer to us - lichen and dried birch branches and leaves. Luckily for us it worked and we spent over an hour together with these beautiful animals, some of the male reindeer eating lichen straight out of our hands. The females who were just about to have their calves were a bit more shy but we managed to get quite close to the group.
Petra had prepared some snacks for us as well and we enjoyed pies with reindeer meat, cake with lingon- and blueberries and blackberry juice. Delicious! It was a great experience and I can warmly recommend a visit to Wolverine Fell Wilderness and Nature if you are in the area. Petra knows everything there is to know about reindeer and willingly shares stories about them or the life of a reindeer farmer if you ask her.
