点评:We’ve visited the Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary every time we’ve been in Australia – this was our fifth visit. Sadly, it will likely be our last.
The park felt generally run down and at times quite dirty, despite there being plenty of staff around. We also noticed that several enclosures were empty. In one area, there was even a memorial for three deceased animals, which added to the overall impression.
Some enclosures appeared small and not particularly well maintained. In parts, there were only very basic animals like goats and rabbits – not really what you expect when visiting a wildlife sanctuary.
What made this especially disappointing is that we both donated money after the severe floods in 2022, hoping to support the park’s recovery. Unfortunately, it now feels as though more effort has gone into the shop, café, or even the mini golf area rather than into the animal enclosures.
It’s a real shame, as this used to be a lovely, well-run place with engaging and informative shows that weren’t just for kids. We didn’t experience much of that this time.
Overall, very disappointing – we used to love coming here, but this visit has likely changed that.
