Fantastic One-Day Sport Climbing Course in the Peak District

点评：I booked a one-day private sport climbing course with Paul in the Peak District and it was excellent from start to finish.
I'm a regular indoor lead climber and wanted to learn how to safely sport climb outdoors ahead of a trip to Portland the following weekend. My main goal was simply to learn how to clean an anchor properly, but the day ended up covering far more than that.
We climbed at Horseshoe Quarry, and the weather was unusually dry and mild for early March which made for a great day out. In the morning we climbed a smaller section of the quarry, getting used to outdoor bolts and systems, and in the afternoon we climbed at the amusingly named “Toilet” area where I led my first unassisted outdoor sport route “Latrec”.
Paul was an excellent instructor — very knowledgeable and great at explaining why things are done a certain way, not just what to do. I came away feeling confident about safely cleaning the anchor in a range of situations and set ups I might feasibly encounter outdoors.
We also covered lots of other useful things along the way: clipping technique, how to retrieve stuck gear, using a clip stick, and plenty of general advice about sport climbing and equipment.
All the necessary gear was provided, which made everything very easy.
I would highly recommend this course for indoor climbers who want to transition to sport climbing outdoors safely and confidently. I learned a huge amount in a single day and feel much more prepared to climb independently outside.
