The living conditions are disgraceful
Lane's Garden Centre Open Farm的点评
点评：I’m absolutely appalled by the living standards for the animals at this farm! Firstly you walk in and the goats have the smallest space, no free roam access to grass this is then limiting them from being able to display natural behaviours such as grazing, this also applies to the sheep, cows and pigs (this breaks the Animal Welfare Act 2006).
The chickens are living on what looks like a construction site with substrate consisting of rubble this seems to have affected the chickens as I saw at least 7 of them with severe feather plucking which is caused by stress. This was the case for the duck in there with them also (this is another violation to the Animal Welfare Act 2006 due to a lack of appropriate live space and natural behaviours) . Due to the lack of grass and grazing opportunities it is evident that they are not able to exhibit their natural behaviour.
The Guinea pigs had minimal bedding, old veg, dirty water bowls and every water bottle I saw had green algae in it. Working with these animals myself I know that it only gets like that after weeks of poor cleaning. Not to mention the lack of water in the bottles! It was 25 degrees today so animals must have been suffering!!
I could go onto the other animals in their care but I think you get the point. It is a disgrace and I am very concerned for these animals! I work in animal rescue and have worked on farms so I know the standard of care these animals need.
