点评:Minsmere is beautiful, but if you're thinking of visiting this RSPB reserve take care you don't mirror our own unpleasant experience. My wife and I paid our entrance fees and set off on the signposted 3 kilometre coastal loop walk. Pausing to visit a bird-hide on the beach section, however, we were stopped by a uniformed RSPB official - a volunteer, I believe - who demanded to know why we didn't have binoculars, an odd query that we laughed off with a "don't have any" joke. However, she was then insistent that we could rent binoculars from the shop, a heavy-sell that came into proper focus when she eventually warned us that we should have paid to be on this walk and access these facilities. Absence of binoculars, it seemed, was a Bad Sign. We explained that we had indeed paid, but were left with the unsettling impression that we were not believed. No apology. No attempt at goodwill. We finished our walk, complained at the desk, and left the reserve feeling angry. A ruined trip. Luckily we then went to nearby Dunwich Heath, run by the National Trust, where volunteers made us welcome and rescued our mood. My advice - take binoculars to Minsmere. Or take your papers.
