Miserable staff member!

点评：Myself and my family were staying nearby to this cafe and decided to pop in for a mid-morning sweet treat and coffee after a busy morning of sightseeing. We'd had a lovely morning and this experience really sullied my mood...clearly contagious from one of the staff member's! Working a customer service job myself, I understand that customers cannot always be easy to deal with, however I was very patient, waited in a queue for over 5 minutes, and greeted the staff member at the counter (an older lady with glasses) warmly and with a smile. Unfortunately I was met with a sour face and no enthusiasm whatsoever. At first I gave her the benefit of the doubt and considered that she might be having a bad day, however when I began ordering she was completely disinterested, blunt and rude. I queried if the cafe offered student discount and (as some of the other local establishments we visited did) did acknowledge that it might be a stupid question but I like to check anyway and she stared at me with an expression of such distain and you could tell she was questioning my intelligence. Her response was a blunt "no" after having stared at me incredulously for quite a few seconds. In hindsight I should not have been so nice in response to this, but I laughed it off and said "It's always good to check" and she once again just stared at me with annoyance visible from every angle. This poor service was not limited to her; the other staff members behind the counter also looked bored and interacted with customers in a way that communicated their complete lack of interest. It was such a shame because the coffee I had was nice, but this experience and the judgement radiating from this woman made me so uncomfortable. I wouldn't touch this cafe with a barge pole unless the owners considered a rapid and complete turnover of staff.
