点评：My husband and I had the most incredible private surf lesson with Wayne and his sons.
We are new to surfing, we'd only had one previous lesson and wanted to take a lesson from a local while on vacation in Barbados. Wayne was recommended through word of mouth and I am so glad that we chose to take lessons with him because he really focused on helping us build skills we can take with us. Our first lesson had been in shallow white water with the instructor pushing us most of the time.
During this lesson, we were able to start to learn how to spot the waves ourselves, how to practice the right timing with paddling and standing and get long rides and practice turning. His teaching method is to provide new information as you master the concepts so you don't get overwhelmed. I really started to feel comfortable on the board and start to get out of my head and start to feel what worked best. We'd discuss what worked well and where I could improve after each run. One of Wayne's son's was surfing with us so we each received 1:1 attention and had support with moving fast enough to catch the wave and paddling back (which is quite hard - our arms were tired by the end!). His other son recorded videos of our runs from the shore so that we could share with our families and learn for the next time. Wayne shared that my stand was a bit too wide and recommended that he try me on shorter board next time.
We will be going back for another lesson or two before we leave!
