点评:Could not believe my eyes. Maybe 1000 or so tourist on camels, in traffic (ehm, camel) jams. Maybe only 5 or so hectares available for tourism; the rest of the Sand Mountains are off-limits. Screaming tourists, even a camel-traffic light, no kidding (See picture enclosed). We did the came ride and climbed up the sand dune/mountain with 17000 other tourists. Truly amazing, truly disappointing.
And did I already mention the helicopters flying over every 8 minutes or so? Sand buggies? Sounds like fun but you can't self-drive unlike e.g. in Dubai or Morocco.
On a separate note; We booked a camp-site close by for the 10 of us. Astonishing experience. Maybe 2000 tourist in a small area with over 500 tents, cordoned off by fences preventing you from entering the sand dunes area. Of course there was a 120db nightshow with KTV style singing and fireworks for sale resulting in additional noise until at least 1am.
Anything positive? If you've never seen sand dunes or rode a camel, by all means do go. But if you, like us, have Dubai/Egypt/etc experience, don't bother.
