点评:Absolutely stunning! The exterior remains plain and austere, which makes the interior all the more striking once you step inside — gold leaf, marble, and a painted ceiling that takes your breath away from floor to ceiling. A real visual shock.
The Oratory, where Caravaggio's two works are displayed, is worth the visit on its own — standing in front of The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist, his only signed painting, in the very room where it was painted over 400 years ago, is a truly unique moment.
The inlaid marble floor, covering the tombs of the Knights of the Order, is incredibly rich — each slab is a genuine work of art in its own right.
A must-see when visiting Valletta, and well worth the €15 entrance fee. Allow at least 1.5 to 2 hours to fully enjoy it without rushing.
An absolute favourite — do not miss it!
