点评:If you are planning a trip to Mamutik Island via Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal, please be extremely vigilant about boat transfer agents assigned to you!
While the island itself is lovely, the transport operation at Jesselton Point's official ticketing counter lacks proper regulation. On September 15, we purchased tickets at the official counter to travel to Mamutik Island and were assigned to operator A6 - Swaniibu.
During registration, the A6 staff member arbitrarily demanded an extra RM10 per person for life jackets, threatening that we would be denied boarding to Mamutik if we didn't pay. We explained that we had already booked a snorkeling instructor on Mamutik who supplies life jackets, and offered to hand the boat's life jackets back as soon as we stepped onto the Mamutik jetty. She rudely refused, claiming: "This is my sister's boat, no RM10, no boarding."
When we reported this extortion back to the terminal counter, staff offered no help other than telling us to wait hours for another operator or take a refund. We took a refund and departed for the islands via DBKK Jetty instead.
Important advice for travelers heading to Mamutik:
If assigned to A6 - Swaniibu at the official counter, reject it immediately and request a different agent.
Be aware that life jackets needed on the island can be rented on Mamutik itself or provided by your dive/snorkel guide.
Consider departing from DBKK Jetty as a hassle-free alternative.
