点评:We informally met Ken several years ago while in Gettysburg. At that time we had come to know him affectionately as the “Red Shirt Man”. His knowledge of the battle as well as the impact on the town and the people of Gettysburg was very impressive. When we learned that he was conducting town tours we absolutely had to go on one of his tours. We chose his “Reluctant Witness” tour. The Town Tours offer an insight into the impact the battle had on the town’s civilian population. It is very apparent that Ken is constantly researching his subject matter and thoroughly enjoys sharing his research findings with others. Ken has the ability to tell the story of the battle’s impact on the town’s people in such a way that he draws you into the experience. Although we will never be able to completely understand what the town’s people and the soldiers who entered into the town and the surrounding farms and fields felt at the time of the battle - Ken presents the information in such way that is not only educational to the modern day visitor but respectful to the memories of the people who actually lived the experience. The two hour tour is an easy walk which started on Baltimore St (near the Jennie Wade House), continued down Baltimore St, and turned around roughly in the general area behind the Gettysburg Middle School. The two hours went by extremely quickly and Ken packed in a lot of information in an enjoyable learning experience. We are looking forward to another tour with Ken the next time we are in Gettysburg!
